ERYK MOORE
Put Fred Hampton, Rakim, and Langston Hughes together with a pen, pad, microphone and a crowd and you have Eryk Moore: "Word Smith, blessed with the verbal gift to uplift".
Born and raised in New York, NY, this Spoken Word Artist was bitten by the "writing bug" at an early age. Inspired by the likes of Malcolm X and Curtis Mayfield and influenced by Hip Hop, Eryk began to work on the blue print for his trade mark style. In 1999, he left NY and set up camp in Atlanta, Georgia. Like most poets, Eryk felt his poetry was personal and wasn't willing to share his inner most thoughts with the world. Needless to say, in 2000 that changed. That was the year Eryk performed at the legendary Ying Yang Café. Soon after that he joined a group of hot Spoken Word Artists known as the Eboni Poets....and the rest is history.
Eryk's style has been described as "eclectic". He has the ability to paint a vivid picture with his words and pull you into it. When asked to describe his particular style of poetry, he smiles and says "It's Hip-Hop Blues". Having the ability to speak on everything from his love for God, Romance, to everyday life, Eryk refuses to be pinned into a "verbal corner". HE goes on to say, "I do this for those who want more than hot metaphors from Eryk Moore. For those who don't give a damn about mic cords or applause, and I don't do this to get into a woman's draws". These are the words that Eryk lives by.
In 2003, he released his debut CD titled "Project: Edenwald". He then started his own company, One Mic Entertainment, which consist of an on-line Spoken Word Magazine (www.onemicent.com), an entertainment and publishing company (Just Words Publishing). In the summer of 2004 Eryk released the follow up to his successful freshman CD, Titled "Eryk Moore the EP". His full sophomore CD will be released in the winter of 2004 titled "This Man's Life".
Not content with just being a Hot Spoken Word Artist, Eryk is also a hot Entrepreneur. He has marketed everything from his own line of clothing and accessories Open Mic which includes: dog tags, hats, key chains, t-shirts and more. But wait, it doesn't stop there, One Mic Entertainment has held free concerts for numerous group homes for children and children' hospitals.
In a word, Eryk has said it best "I'm the calm before the storm. I'm here to entertain and inform. As I perform poetry like Floetry and for those out there who don't know me...I be Eryk Moore: Word Smith blessed with the verbal gift to uplift."
