I love E.S. Posthumus

This CD is great! I can understand the people who were less than pleased with the Cartographer CDs because of their mellower sound. I've never thought of ESP as the kind of music you enjoy by starting on the first track and listening through to the last track. The CDs are not paced very well and I don't think they are intended to be. Unearthed had some very suspenseful music, Cartographer has mellower, sweeter, almost adventurous sound, Makara is like in your face battle music. They are more like a catalog of music for trailers. The genre I've dubbed "trailer music" or "epic orchestral" is better enjoyed in short bursts to really feel the power of the music. I've actually found that the 3 CDs together can be a great playlist. The mellower tracks of Cartographer evening out the overwhelming energy of the other 2 CDs. Great music for working.
Back to Makara, Kuvera, Durga, Varuna, Indra, and Ushas are all stellar. Unstoppable, well, it's my cell phone ringtone. I've enjoyed that song for a long time.

Back to the roots

A new CD from Posthumus is always a treat, and this one is not different. All tracks have the familiar 'sound' to them for what ES Posthumus is known for. It kinda feels like a departure from their Cartographer CD as most tracks come much closer to their debut album, Unearthed.
Any fans of the previous albums should definitely pick this one up. It varies between being energetic, adventures and soothing (the focus lies more on the first two though). My own personal favorite song has to be “Indra“, a simple melody but one that just sounds solid and timeless, an instant classic. That’s really the power of ES Posthumus, their music manages to transport the listener to another reality and suspend time and space.
Also included is the “Unstoppable” track, a nice added bonus as the this track was previously only available in digital format. Although “Unearthed” remains the absolute masterpiece that may never be topped, this CD is yet another showcase of some powerful, moving music. My only critique would be about the reworked melodies from Beethoven. They sound quite nice but their rendition is very close to the original composition, making you wonder why they were included. It would have been nice to see the composers going little bit further with the existing material. Other than that, this album is a winner!!
Looking forward to each new album these artists produce!

ESP still impresses me!!

With a very epic tone to this album (very much more than Unearthed and definitely Cartographer), this album sets for a great, adrenaline-packed experience! My favourites are Manju, Saint Matthew Passion, Moonlight Sonata, Unstoppable, Arise, Kuvera, Anumati and Krosah. It is really hard to say my favourite with this album! I'm so glad I finally have all 3 CDs of ESP's albums now! These guys just never disappoint! I hope ESP gets more recognition, especially after that Superbowl performance with Jay-Z, which I think was a great example of popularity-making! Hope to hear more from ESP's music soon!!
