Estate is a collaborative effort between Dan Kramer and Josh Johnson, two producers, friends, and music enthusiasts. Born in a dingy basement studio during the frigid winter months in Minneapolis, MN, Estate takes a DIY approach to music creation. From its inception, Estate has focused on making electronic music accessible to audiences who might be new to the electronic scene. By blending elements of from all genres, Estate hoped to make party music that the whole family could enjoy. The music was made using simple ideas and simple equipment. A radio shack mic for vocals, Reason for synthesizers and drum beats, and Ableton Live 5 for editing and arranging.

The album name, The Vacation, has a dual meaning. First the songs were all written and recorded during the hot month of July when both members were enjoying much needed time off from various scholarly and economic pursuits (ie school and work). Secondly, Estate wanted to make an album that didn't tie the listener down in time or space. To achieve this we worked hard to create a sense of progression within the album, one song smoothly transitioning into the next. This progression emulates the lazy summer times that we all remember, where days merge into each other and one is able to relax and enjoy simply being.

The members of Estate believe strongly in the power of music and its ability to unite people in a shared experience. Estate whole heartily embraces an interactive artist/listener relationship. If you have ideas, questions, comments, or feel like you would like to contribute, we encourage you to contact us. Estate is a constantly evolving entity and we welcome all to participate!

Sincerely,

Dan and Josh
