ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"The modern metal landscape is saturated with mediocre bands that still hold on to the antiquated notion that playing loud and fast is enough to pique the interest of fans of the genre. Given that, it's immediately refreshing to hear this California five piece giving their listeners some credit. This is structured, intelligent metal done right, ripe with darkly sophisticated lyrics and dual guitar work that forges a harshly complex sound. Sloughing off the riff-riding, straightforward assault that so many bands fall back on, they have instead managed to put together songs that strategically challenge the audience, jutting from hard to heavy, screams to echoes. All of this is achieved without a formulaic vibe, with each song hitting with equal force but from a distinctly different angle. The method is effective, bordering on a song-within-a-song approach that's sure to keep you in suspense, bracing for what is coming next."

ABSOLUTE POWER
In your face and so tight. This is better than most bands that have a full record deal. Can't get enough of this cd. I have lost some hearing and a set of speakers. Thanks guys for an awesome cd. I am sharing with as many friends as possible. Thanks to 525 powertracks for this discovery. If you are a metal fan you will not be disapointed.

IN YOUR FACE
These guys kick A**. Better than most signed bands out there. I can't get enough of this CD. This band is so tight. The louder the better. No disapointments here. Thanks 525 powertracks for letting me discover this cd.

O MY GOD, THE ENERGY!
I listen to sometimes just for the intensity and energy. Mindblowing energy, especially Paradox(my favorite right now).
Just get the MotherF****** CD! Not kidding.

A must have for any metal fan
I first listened to Etched in Red on the Internet radio 525.com and was completely blown ayway by this new San Diego based band.
For a first album, Dylate is very impressive with a great production.
The fist three tracks are my favourites, the riffs are awesome and the way the singer screams destroy everything. But it is not non-stop screaming which increases the power and intensity of the brutal parts.
Heavy with devastating riffs while melodic and easy to get into all at the same time.
I HIGHLY RECOMNEND this to ANY metal fan.

you hav got to check this out
Dylate is the new album by the San Diego-based (arguably, progressive) metal band ETCHED IN RED, and it is the best thing I've heard in quite some time. Is there a hint of nu-metal here and there? yes. Perhaps a bit too much cookie monster growling? Maybe. Can you hear the strong influence of a certain progressive nu-metal band? sure. Does it still rip your head off? Hell, yeah. The sheer energy and force in these tunes more than overcomes any of the above-mentioned transgressions. They're angry, too, but not in an "I've had it so good my whole life that now I'm pissed off at the emptyness and meaninglessness of it all" sort of way. Hey, if an old 80's metal-head like me can appreciate it, then you know it passes the authenticity test. These guys are a band to keep an eye on. To my ear they are still "finding their voice", but it's definitely in there - you can hear what they could become. The quality of the playing itself is worth mentioning (particularly the drumming and bass - both standouts), but what really struck me were the strong song structures - accessible enough on the surface to draw you in, but underneath there is complexity, both melodic and rhythmic. They can go from full-on brutal put-your-head-thru-the-wall to lush polyrhythms without missing a beat, and then back again... And it all works. Album production appears to be by them alone, and they deserve kudos for that, too... If they can avoid being pulled into the assembly-line mill of the modern music establishment, there's no telling what they could do. This cd beats the living daylights out of most of what is being played on clear channel right now. Hear me now, believe me when you listen to this album.
