ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
“Too Late is a wonderful funky, bluesy and wry tune, bringing to mind the clever artistry of Randy Newman, with a similar plaintive and charismatic vocal delivery. Everything works here – the unmistakably funky groove of the Hammond, the laid back jazzy tempo, the trumpet fills, the honest lyrics. Rating: A+”
-Susan White, exmogulmusic.com, Orlando, FL

"What would happen if Ben Folds and Stevie Wonder got together to write a song? Why don't you ask Ethan Stone? He has seemed to hit the nail on the head in "Too Late"...a song so catchy that it could be deemed an epidemic in a third world country."
-Songtiger.com review staff

“Stone has taken the best of blues, rock, and folk artist’s souls, and merged them with his own. He writes from the soles of his feet, and his age has honed his passion. Whether singing of heartbreak or joy, he brings fervor to the keyboard, and wrings furor and adoration from his throat.”
-Doneen Durling, Winchendon Courier, Winchendon, MA

“Ethan Stone approaches music from a whole different direction than most musicians. He neatly fits into every possible category without trying to fit into any.”
-Paul Zimmerman, First Coast News, Jacksonville, FL

"Ethan Stone and his band are restoring my faith in rock and roll"
-critic Craig S. Semon

"This guy is the man!"
-members of the band Soulive

"Ethan Stone is better than Dave Matthews...and Phish...and Avril Lavigne..."
-New York DVD founder Brian Brodeur

"Congratulations. It's a pleasure, really."
-David Bowie, when meeting Ethan Stone for the first time

"The charismatic leader. The inspiration."
-Boston Music Awards’ Producer of the Year, David Minehan

"Ethan is such a great songwriter"
-Producer/engineer Jamie Foulds, ECMA winning engineer 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006

“How one person can contain so much talent and not EXPLODE defies explanation?! His drive to do it ‘right’ makes listening fun, and an adventure. His live performances are mesmerizing, and you’ll come away glad you went in the first place!”
-Jay Deane, President, WJDF 97.3FM

“Just when I was getting ready to stop listening to rock demo’s, Ethan’s appeared...
’WOW’, I’m hooked !!!”
-Producer, Co-founder of Moxie Music USA / Overtom Music, Thomas O’Keefe

Songwriter / recording artist Ethan Stone hails from Athol, MA. A rocker at heart, he also bleeds traces of jazz, funk, soul, pop, acoustic, and other sounds. Stone claims Thelonius Monk, Jimmy Smith, Billy Joel, Beck, Tom Petty, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Radiohead, Peter Gabriel, Bob Dylan, Soulive and "millions of others" have molded the keyboardist/vocalist/guitarist into his enigmatic style. Though Stone often builds his songs around messages of humanitarianism, he also takes a poke at the status quo, often mixing uplifting musical textures with harsh, devastatingly honest lyrics of disillusionment. Ethan Stone has earned a reputation for putting on marathon, sweat-drenched rock concerts. He released his debut single, "Too Late" in January, 2006. With a full-length CD to come in 2007, Stone performs exclusively in venues where alcohol is not consumed. "My mission is simple, to make the world a better place through my music, in the largest degree possible. If I'm going to be selling something with my music, its not going to be alcohol. I've been there, done that, and want no part of it, ever again," says Stone. Since leaving the bar life behind for good in 2004, Ethan has worked hard to stimulate his craft and invest in his community. He has created and performed at countless alcohol-free benefit concerts and festivals. Ethan has also been the driving force behind Tool Town Live!, a series of concerts held in several small towns in central MA, benefitting the Public Library and other non-profit organizations.

Stuck in my head, can't sit still, when can I hear more?
Ethan Stone has written some of the most infectuous, colorful music I have ever heard. This is better than most of what I hear on modern radio. Thank you for giving rock and roll a future!
