Album Notes

In addition to being an accomplished singer and songwriter, Ethan Walker performs all of the instruments on his CD except for violin (performed by classically trained virtuoso Brent Williams). Ethan’s music has often been compared to Crosby Stills & Nash. His music is built on a foundation of acoustic guitar, piano, bass and drums. Solo instruments include violin, flute, acoustic guitar and electric guitar. The track "Isn't It Amazing" features the Ukulele. Capping the songs are Ethan’s rich vocals and harmony arrangements intertwined with vivid lyrical poetry. Songs range from dreamlike to up-tempo ecstatic celebrations dancing-in-the-streets.

Ethan began his music career at the age of 16 first on drums for a number of years before switching to lead guitar, flute, vocals and pedal steel. In the early 70's his band was signed by legendary producer Gabriel Meckler who produced Janis Joplin, Three Dog Night and Steppenwolf. At that time Meckler had just left ABC Dunhill and formed Lizard Productions with offices above the Whisky A-Go-Go on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. Later Ethan spent many years playing weekends in cover bands honing his musical skills. As a result of the psychedelic counter-culture era of the late 60's (remember hippies?) Ethan became interested in meditation, mysticism and spirituality which he pursues to this day.

Ethan eventually devoted his music and songwriting to the path of "peace and love" and began to write and record music to express this. His music is fresh, organic, natural and uniquely imaginative. Several of the songs on his debut CD, "Tears of Joy," are written about the Divine Mother of the universe which can be taken simply as Mother Nature at large or more intimately as the Mother Creator of worlds without end – the Goddess – who waits to enfold us in Her heart of endless love and compassion.
