ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
influenced by the beauty of Southern France and the heart of Seville, Southern Spain - Mark Etherton has put together a very original mix of guitar compositions infused with passion, harmony, high energy and creativity.

Since graduating from music college 11 years ago, Mark has played and performed with various artists. It was back in November 2002 that he discovered his passion for Spanish influenced music - and since then he has created the delightfully colourful Nchanted album.

Mark's melodic approach brings out the colourful melody lines and the finely tuned picking technique that he has developed over the years. Nchanted combines a spanish song feel, an instrumental music base and a touch of world influence to achieve its highly original and enchanting ambience.

Mark has always had a wide variety of musical influences ranging from classical and instrumental, funk and jazz, latin and flamenco - through to the highly energetic neo-classical rock.

Nchanted Reviews
"If you like the Gipsy Kings you'll love this band. Flamenco guitarists at their best..." - Hushgroove - 2nd June 2004

"Nchanted is a wonderfully understated gem of an album... Unlike many interpretations of traditional music by non-Spaniards - such as Miles Davis' Sketches Of Spain - Mark has resisted the temptation to give the album a more commercial sound... Nchanted is as close as you will get to real Spanish music withough booking a holiday to Andalucia" - Surrey Comet - 14th April2004

"Totally enchanting... a stunning album of music influenced by the country [Spain]... Etherton...has produced an album which conjures up all the standard images of Spanish music, but also fuses some of his influences in an intriguing melting pot of well crafted and superbly played songs." - Surrey Herald - 17th March 2004

Hi Mark - i came to see you perform in London last May at the Spanish open night in town. I often visit CDbaby and i was thrilled to see your CD finally placed on the site. I have to say i was blown away the first time i saw you play. Your technique is incredible and i have no idea how you play the way you do - You and Steve work very well together. It was a friend of Steve that told me about the performance. I understand that you are playing at the Boogie Lounge soon - i have 20 people that are desperate to see you play. I hope you pick this message up and next time i will introduce myself next time i see you perform. I have given the album the full 5 stars as it is very addictive and very well played. Big thumbs up.
See you at BL
Cheers

Second album sounding WOW
I saw you play at a massive event back in October. I was "stunned" with your performance and the tunes you have constructed for the second album are out of this world. For a trio you could have been playing at any event. I am exited about the release of your second album as i know it will be absolutely stunning.

NChanted crosses classical Flamenco with Jazz playfulness
NChanted is one of those CD's you just love to sink into.
Innovative, it playfully combines slick Flamenco picking with jazz rhythmns that keep tracks upbeat and unpredictable. His live performances are highly recommended. He has a unique, often humorous way of playing the guitar, which he appears to 'stroke' as he speeds through 100 notes a minute. Still young, Etherton's already on track to being a jazz master of spanish guitar.

It was grey and raining outside but this took me to a warmer place.
It was grey and raining outside - and I longed for my holiday. I played this CD and was quickly lost in memories of Spanish villa's, warm evenings on the terrace and the ambience of clinking glasses. I recommend this CD to anyone wanting to feel the warmness of Spain without having to move from their seat.

I am a massive flamenco fan. I have been listening to this genre of music for the last 20 years. The one album that stands out from all of the albums i have heared is Nchanted. It's not because it has great playing on it, it's because it sounds so original, so different from everything else that is out on the music scene. You have crafted a style of Spanish influenced music that will go a long way. I look forward to hearing future albums. Well done.

Hi Mark, I am rating this album as a 5 because since it came out in 2003 it has held it’s magic. I understand that you are back in the studio this this year working on the new beast. You played so very well at the Royal Albert Hall.
