The musicians for this recording are from the Ethos West Chamber Orchestra and the Just Jazz Quintet (the JJQ), two Northern Colorado ensembles that share some of the same personnel. Ron Holleman, the composer of the Shambhala Suite, is the leader of both groups.
Ethos West is a professional orchestra dedicated to performing chamber music of all styles and periods, from renaissance and baroque to jazz, third-stream, and world music. They play two or three concerts a year, with JJQ musicians as frequent contributors. See www.ethoswest.org.
The JJQ is a mainstream jazz band with devoted fans, has been playing straight-ahead contemporary jazz at regular monthly sessions in Fort Collins since 2000. See www.justjazzquintet.com
