An artistic triumph....
author: Ted Luce
This latest release from Jay EuDaly is the culmination of all of his previous efforts. 'My Ship' defines EuDaly as a skilled jazz guitarist letting the listener think he is a singer/songwriter. His take on Van Morrison's 'Into the Mystic' proves more energetic than the original without losing its soulful spirit. The title track has an infectious melody that just sticks in your head! 'James and Grace' is a morality tale that succeeds in not coming off too 'religious'. Jay's version of Fastball's 'The Way' shows his ability to reinvent a song and give it a totally unique flavor. 'Feeling Kinda Country' is a fun song although some country listeners with no sense of humor might take the song as jab against country music in general (and it's not). All in all, this is an easygoing, enjoyable work with a lot of layers which makes 'My Ship' a cd one can enjoy again and again!
