Album Notes

The quartet is made up of Matt Ray on piano, Matt Ulery on bass, Greg Wyser-Pratte on drums, and Eunice Yi on vocals. Ray is based in NYC, the rest of us in Chicago.

With decades of music performance under our belts, we came together to think outside the box, purposely smudging the lines between various genres, hoping to challenge the listener preconceptions of what jazz or classical or pop ought to sound like. Along the way, we roped in critically acclaimed musicians Kyle Asche (guitar) and Thad Franklin (trumpet), and the volatile combination of musicians resulted in the concoction that stands before you today. People who've had an early listen to the original music have dubbed it "Chicago-style, creative modern" jazz, but we call it a healthy dose of simple, happy pop.

Bassist Matt Ulery will be issuing "Music Box Ballerina," an album featuring his own original music, this November 2007. Drummer Greg Wyser-Pratte can be found in the Dan Cray Trio's "Save Us" (http://cdbaby.com/cd/dancray2) and "No One" (http://cdbaby.com/cd/dancray). Vocalist Eunice Yi intends to bring the quartet back into the studio in spring 2008 for a full-length recording.
