Album Notes

Genre-bending songs about sex, chocolate, the Internet... and sex. Eva Moon skewers romance, high tech and pop culture with smart, funny originals. She and her band play melodic rock with a tasty blend of influences ranging from R&B to cabaret. Eva hails from Seattle, and her songs hit your ears like a double shot of espresso. Far from your typical singer-songwriter angst, they're ironic, energetic commentaries on modern life: inbox spam (Cash from Nigeria), beating stress (Run Away with Me), torrid passion (Monsoon), sex changes (Switcheroo) and that cute young dude in tight brown shorts (UPS Guy). About the band: Mike Gordon has recorded on woodwinds with other West Coast bands. With Eva Moon, though, he's indulging a longstanding lust to play electric bass and sing backup. Ferko Saxmanov plays sax, flute and hand percussion. He's classically trained, but "that and three bucks will buy you a double tall mocha latte." Tym Parsons played guitar on the CD before moving to FIJI. What reviewers, promoters and fans are saying: "A quadruple-shot satire powered by Moon's sassy, sultry delivery and keyboards, and punctuated by deft guitar licks, a mean bass line, smooth sax and a punchy rock-and-roll backbeat." - Seattle24x7.com "This album will nibble at your GP spot... 'guilty pleasure'! Eva's sensual vocal delivery waltzes through the full blend of sex and smarts. 'Grown-up pop'? You betcha." - Radio Crystal Blue, NY

Wow! This CD blew me out of the water

Something Brewing is an amazing CD. Eva demonstrates and incredible range of talent, gliding effortlessly from hip-hop to country to jazz and more. Her razor sharp wit is clearly evident in her hysterically funny and tightly crafted lyrics. Yet don't write this off as a "comedy" CD. Eva's equally at home with torchy ballads such as RUN AWAY WITH ME and the poignant FLY AWAY. All the music on this CD, whether it makes you laugh or cry, is top notch all the way.

Fun, quirky stuff

Eva Moon's style is hard to peg. The first song is almost hip-hop but she follows that with tango, rock, folk and pop. One thing they all have in common is clever, witty, intelligent songwriting. Moon's voice is a deep, sultry one reminiscent of Blondie's Debbie Harry. Especially on the track, "Monsoon".

This CD has a wide variety of spices that seem to blend together for a cohesive unit. It constantly surprises me with its clever lyrics, and inspired musicianship. There really is no classifying it. It is electricfying eclectic energy, adroitly applied in a refreshing brew of music. It entertains. This is not your children's music.
