On the heels of the success of Hero Jr.’s self-titled EP, bandleader Evan Haughey will release his shelved solo EP November 29, 2011. Recorded in 2006 at the first version of Paul Mahern’s White Arc Studios in Bloomington, IN, the music offers a reflective and understated relief to the high-energy output of Hero Jr.
An all-star cast highlights Evan’s talent as a performer. The EP was co-produced and co-written (along with Haughey) by revered Indiana producer Paul Mahern (Zero Boys, John Mellencamp, Mysteries of Life, Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, Blake Babies, John Wilkes Booze, Over The Rhine, The Pieces, Afghan Whigs, Lisa Germano) and London UK Producer/Songwriter/Facilitator Ken Rose (Teitur, Vanessa S., Ala Janosz, Roch Voisine). The supporting line-up is rounded out by Devon Ashley (The Pieces, Over The Rhine, Lemonheads) on drums, and Elaina Morgan (Girls In Trouble).
As the front man for Hero Jr, Haughey has caught the interest of a broad fan-base made up of commercial radio listeners, indie music fans, local press and rock radio curators with his accessible style that resonates with consumers of modern-rock radio and fans of My Morning Jacket, The Eels, Terry Reid. White Album influences show in the rhythm section and will appeal to fans of minimalistic Pink Floyd, and Angie-period Rolling Stones. Musical talent aside, Evan’s work ethic, business savvy and DIY attitude have helped to propel Hero Jr into the Indiana music limelight.
The release of “Evan” is scheduled between two Hero Jr. releases on Desa Records. In November 2011, a re-pressing of Hero Jr’s EP was issued after receiving extremely positive listener response to airplay on Indianapolis’ X103. A Mahern-produced full-length release from Hero Jr. will launch in Spring 2012.
“Evan” will be available in stores, online, and at Hero Jr. shows. Evan Haughey will be backed-up by Hero Jr. for an EP release show on Saturday, December 3 at Radio Radio. Go to herojr.net for more information or to purchase.
