Album Notes

Why Stride?
"You get that right tickin' rhythm, man, and its ON!"
--Fats Waller

In its heyday, nearly 90 years ago, this jazz reflected
and celebrated emancipation from the old world form.

Since today this emancipation continues as freedom spreads
around the world, this album serves as a celebration of
our freedom enshrined in this unique American musical form.

Special Thanks to the talented Miss Elizabeth, Dimitri Moderbacher,
and Rick Bogart.

Evan Palazzo grew up in New York City where he began playing piano before he could speak.

Evan is a member of Lauren Ambrose & The Leisure Class, the acclaimed band fronted by actress Lauren Ambrose.

Evan's the bandleader of The Hot Sardines, a down and dirty, whimsical gutbucket jazz group.

Evan is also an actor. His two specialties have met when he played piano in films like My Brother with Vanessa Willliams, The Height of the Sky directed by Lyn Clinton, and What Happens in Vegas with Cameron Diaz. He is a member of the Screen Actors Guild.

He's honored to have played with Sol Yaged, Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks, Ron Carter, Eddie Davis, Irving Joseph, Rick Bogart, The Blue Ribbon Boys, The Minivans, Mike Schiffer and Britta Langsjoen.

Evan lives in Manhattan with his wife, actress Jennifer Weedon.

Finding His Stride
If you like early jazz (eubie blake, fats waller, etc) you will LOVE this CD. Actually, you don't even need to like jazz at all!! You could probably not even like music and still find this CD to be fantastic. And no, I am not a relative of Evan Palazzo nor do I even know him. This is purely a review based on immense delight of having discovered this CD and performer.

"Finding His Stride" captures the lyrical sound and the energy of some classic earlier tunes. I fell in love with this CD-bought two of them and will be buying more.
As a person who has played the piano for many years, my hat is off to Evan. Great interpretation of some wonderful old tunes.
