Album Notes

Evening Star is a monthly concert series in the mountains of North Georgia. The concerts are taped to multi-track and edited into a 59 minute radio show that airs weekly January through June on Sunday afternoons statewide at 4 p.m. EST on Georgia Public Broadcasting(16 stations). These tracks were all previously aired on the radio show and the artists have generously donated the tracks to this fund-raising CD. The shows can be streamed, beginning Sunday, January 7th, at www.gpb.org
The series focuses on songwriting excellence, and the stories of host, Andy Offutt Irwin. Irwin is an amazingly funny storyteller with tons of astounding mouth sound effects and memorable characters like “Aunt Marguerite” his eighty-something year old aunt who got tired of the Bridge Club and the Garden Club, and went to Medical School. She has now opened the “Southern White Old Lady Hospital”. Irwin was a Featured Teller at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, TN in October 2005. There is a story on each compilation CD.
