ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Voices of Everglades National Park presents natural, ambient sounds from seven distinct environments during the annual wet season. These recordings are of frogs, birds, insects and other natural sounds-they depict how the glades should naturally sound. These sounds are becoming rarer as the frog and bird populations are decreasing due to water flow disruption and habitat destruction. Now ,the constant whine of jumbo jets from Miami mixes with the calls of white -eyed vireos and red- shouldered hawks. Voices of Everglades National Park tells us the story of the natural songs sung by the true denizens of the glades-songs of mating, of life and death and songs of pure joy-songs which can tell us wonderous stories if we are willing to listen. A portion of the sale proceeds of this CD will be used to fund concerts of Pahayokee:A Plea for Life, a song cycle of the Everglades.
