This is a band you're not likely to ever see play. The songs are wrested from afternoons in Wake's basement in the North Carolina foothills. Wake is one of those young baby boomers who started playing guitar and collecting stringed instruments as a teenager moving coast-to-coast with his family. Sheridan (who was raised in a Southern charm school) is a living-room singer with a certain raw, vulnerability in her imperfect voice. What they ask of their music is honesty.
