"Undeniably and Unapologetically Fun" - Switch Magazine
"Dangerously Catchy" - Erie Times-News
"Enough Hooks to Land a Whale" - All Music
"a stone's throw away from the Strokes but with better vocals" - Starpolish
"Sweet pop/rock with an edge. You can't go wrong with this band, as they simply ROCK..." - Gods of Music
"Never heard of Evil Jake? Don't worry - soon they'll be one of those bands that you end up changing the radio station when their latest over-played hit comes on... " - fm sound
"full of catchy, perfected pop gems... a promising debut from a real NYC rock trio" - ctmusic
"rocking and instantly hummable tunes... the songs are short, crisp and catchy as hell, just the way all good power pop should be... Evil Jake made this tried-and-true form of music sound fresh and vital." - Thomas Pizzola, Hartford Advocate
Evil Jake is about superior pop songwriting, refined virtuosity (no shred here), and kick-ass live performances in the vintage rock style. Unlike so many of today's so-called bands who live and die by detuned power chords and Pro Tools deception, the boys of Evil Jake can PLAY. With guitar virtuosity that'll shake your ass while breaking your heart, backed by a rock-solid yet explosive rhythm section, Evil Jake layers and intertwines parts to create a 'veneer of sound' - no smoke, no mirrors, just great musicians playing great songs.
With a tip of the hat to the past, and a damn-the-torpedoes vision for the future, Evil Jake will make you remember just how much FUN a kick-ass band can be. With influences ranging from KISS to Motown, The Ramones to Phil Ramone, Evil Jake has been compared to a range of bands including Weezer, Foo Fighters, Elvis Costello, and The Police. The hooks, the licks and the attitude are all in place. Within months of its debut, Evil Jake was already in rotation at stations around the world, kicking butt on mp3.com, appearing on national television, and packing clubs with their vibrant form of rock.
"WHY AREN'T THESE GUYS SIGNED? Best CD/song title ever... extremely clever lyrics (an understatement), think Elvis Costello meets They Might Be Giants, plus "get up and dance" music mixed with hint of rockabilly. Track seven: 'Be my Ex-Girlfriend' alone is worth the price of admission." - Aural Fix
"Amidst the current soundscape of dour metal, gilded pop and mall punk, Evil Jake separate themselves from the pack... the music that Evil Jake play is undeniably and unapologetically fun. Almost any of the albums 13 tracks could be the theme song for your favorite television sitcom. All Evil Jake seem to want is for you to remember what is was like when rock got everybody all shook up..." - Switch Magazine

The CD is great. I heard these songs in Kosovo. I took it to work and they liked it also. I love country music and Evil Jake. What a combination.

author: Eddie WilsonPlain and simple, this CD rocks. Well worth picking up.
Catchy songs...great and different sound!
author: MoMy theory is that if you can find a cd with 3 great songs, it's been worth your money...this one has way more than three for $6...how can you beat it!?!
Decent CD, lots of fun songs
author: Steven HemingrayThis CD has a number of solid, fun tracks. Most of the songs have great, original openings, however, I found that they frequently seemed to drag on and I would be hitting next before song had finished. It's not that the songs are particularly long, they just lose the intensity that they start so strongly with. The CD remains a nice addition to any collection and could definitely be the start to bigger things.

a stone’s throw away from the Strokes but with better vocals
author: StarpolishHere’s a band having more than its share of fun in the rock world. “Be My Ex-Girlfriend” trades on comical sexism -- Barenaked Ladies riffing at the rodeo, if you will. I wasn’t so much into the hoedown breakdown, even if it was a cute way to work in “go to EvilJake.com,” but on the whole I love their sense of humor almost as much as their sense of song structure. Of their other offerings, “Falling Man” is a more than capable song with an overfamiliar riff; and “She’s So Lonely” is a stone’s throw away from the Strokes but with better vocals and marvelous drumming. The success they’ve had thus far is well earned: they combine pop, rock, postpunk and rockabilly influences in a unique way and have a sound all their own, with songs very well developed.
This is a great addition to my colection.
author: Tyler ArnwineThis compact disc is great. The lyrics catch the ear and never let go.
HOLY SH*T, this is good!
author: Eddie WilsonSimply one of the best CDs I've heard in a long time.
