Album Notes

Southwinds Recordings is pleased to introduce the premiere DVD of “Music for Adobe Missions” featuring the timeless music of Composer/Violinist Elisabeth Waldo. This early work was first performed by La Maestra and her Ensemble of that period at the Old Plaza Church, Los Angeles, California with Choral Director Paul Salamunowich and the St. Charles Borromeo Choir. This initial Misa (Mass) performance sparked the interest of Producer Ed Moreno who persuaded KCET public television Los Angeles to film a live concert on the historical grounds of Mission San Gabriel Arcangel, San Gabriel, California.

After this premiere video performance, the master tapes were relegated to storage areas, only later to be rescued from dusty archives by MCMAFN (Multicultural Music and Art Foundation of Northridge). When the opportunity to perform at the newly completed San Jan Capistrano Church, in San Juan Capistrano, California became a reality, the resulting videotape “Song for the New World Peoples” has been incorporated into “Music for Adobe Missions.” Today, this digitally re-mastered DVD footage creates and entirely new and vibrant Mission experience!
