Album Notes

Anybody Seen Junebug? has been set to music! This exciting CD also contains the songs, Ida Mae, Babe, and Sweet Innocence. There is music on this CD to appeal to most music lovers! The title song "Anybody Seen Junebug?" is a modern rock; "Ida Mae" traditional country and "Babe" a swamp-rock boogie. The band also has their own "Sweet Innocence."

In an attempt to hold on to his deceased grandmother Junebug has become her. But not only her, but also other ancestors she's told him about. There is a fine line between a broken heart and a shattered mind. Junebug has crossed it! Can anybody reach him? Has 'Anybody Seen Junebug?'

Chapter 1
John bolted from the top bunk, hitting the floor head first! Junebug was sitting straight up in the bottom bed laughing as loud as he could. Since the lights were out all that John could see in the dank cell was the flash of Junebug's gold teeth, reflecting off of the bars.
"Junebug, be quiet before they come and haul your butt outta here."
"Let 'em by God! Hey John, did I ever tell you about my first job?"
"Man, it's the new millennium. Do I have to listen to that crap from 1960? You ain't never even told me why you're in here. And why'd I see some red nail polish under your pillow this afternoon? If you're a damned fag I'll kill you!"
"Well, I get to live, cause I sure as hell ain't no fag," Junebug replied, as he stretched out on the bunk and wrapped the tattered blanket around his body.
"Your're just gonna go back to sleep and not even tell me what was so funny?" John asked, by now really agitated. He thought he'd gotten used to Junebug's crazy outbursts but they were becoming more and more frequent. Sometimes he'd have a stupid ass look, like they used to call out to lunch. Other times John would call him and he'd just stare like Junebug wasn't even his name. He was a good cellmate as cellmates go, but he was weird!
"I was just thinking about my first job. Yeah, my very first job! I delivered eggs, delivered 'em door to door."
"And that made you laugh like a crazy man, delivering some damn eggs?"
"No, not delivering the eggs. It was something that my grandma said once, but it's not important now. Hell, it's not even funny now. Just go back to sleep and leave me the hell alone."
"Why are you in here Junebug? You promised to tell me."
"I told you it's a loooong story, but it starts with my Grandma. Folks said she was touched in the head. You know nuts! She would sit in her room all day long talking to those quilts. All the squares represented family members and family stories. Some of the squares were funny memories that held sadness, she'd get a quiet lonely look. She was illiterate so she remembered everything by association. She remembered every damned square and who or what it represented. And they called her crazy!

Reviews:

"Delores Thornton scores a major hit with, Anybody Seen Junebug?, a witty and earthy tale of friendship and family love where the human spirit triumphs over grief and adversity. Read this novel. You will be greatly entertained."
~Tracy Price-Thompson, author of Black Coffee
