Album Notes

Exeter Groove are a drum and guitar duo playing the essence of blues with a strong groove factor. Their slide guitar and demanding drumming rhythms will require something of you, weather it be gyrating dance moves or a more traditional toe tapping head nodding feel, you will enjoy this wild and happy ride.

About the band
Dave O’Leary fronts the band as singer song writer, he has been the driving force behind Exeter Groove since its birth in 1999 in the misty gullies of Exeter in the Southern Highlands NSW Australia. Dave’s deep and resonant voice, his rack harmonica and laconic song style create a rich sound and his thinking man’s lyrics and hooks are drawn from influences as diverse as
Son House,
Leo Kotke,
R.L.Burnside,
Bruce Cockburn,
Little Walter,
The Cruel Sea,
Bob Dylan.
With all the above influences Dave's songs have a stong link to the roots of the blues whilst sounding refreshingly modern and conected to this time and space .

Dave Sell former drummer of Big Black Train, lyricist and composer in his own right, brings a strong and exotic edge to the music. His singing and demanding drumming style ads an element of groove that drags the remnant crowd onto the dance floor. Combined with O’Leary’s wild rhythmic guitar style and wailing slide and harmonica, the Groove takes on a personality of it’s own.

The Human Touch: In June 2006 With the masterly influences and production skills of Shane Pacey of the BONDI CIGARS, Dave and Dave cut a energetic album, suitable for the road or the dance floor. Shane displayed his bass and lap steel skills as well as adding extra percussion, knocking sticks and backing vocals. Blended with the two Daves contrasting vocals, laconic lyrics, get up and groove guitar, drum and bass rhythms, this is an album that really has an honest and “Human Touch”. Recorded in the Raw Hide Studios at Tallong NSW.
Shane Pacey
…brings a wealth of experience to the trio. For over 16 years he has fronted the legendary Bondi Cigars as lead vocalist, guitarist and songwriter. The band and Shane individually have received many awards and accolades and were nominated for an ARIA in 2003.

Human Touch Album

“Rare to see such texture and real heart welded together so seamlessly. This music; sounds old and wise, yet it’s as fresh as spring rain… what does a person do with that? I find myself screaming for more on the inside and smiling like a child on the outside.” Mustard Seed Creative
