Album Notes

The Exiles play exhilarating traditional Irish instrumental dance music, as well as their own compositions, with vitality and spark. The Exiles features Bob Drouin, on a dizzying array of melodic instruments, backed by one of the most driving rhythm sections in the business. The Exiles are: Bob Drouin (fiddle, Irish flat-backed bouzouki, Irish tenor banjo, Irish flute, whistle, and vocals), Jay Gilbert (guitar, Irish tenor banjo and vocals), and Jeff Feingold (bodhran - the Irish drum, and vocals). The Exiles music ranges from sets of high-energy jigs and reels, to delicate fingerpicking tunes, to lively traditional songs and tunes of their own composition. The band members are seasoned, award-winning professional musicians, experienced on the concert stage, in the recording studio, on movie sets, and at weddings and other private functions. Email the band at ExilesBiz@Yahoo.com or call Jeff at (508) 641-3884.

THE EXILES -

Bob Drouin (bouzouki, fiddle, banjo, whistle, flute, vocals)
__
Bob's music evokes his deep love for the Irish music tradition. Bob is a well-known figure in the traditional Irish music community due to his many musical ventures. He is a founding member of the highly-esteemed band, Pendragon. For the past seven years, he has been anchoring the traditional Irish music session at Patrick's Pub, in Providence. In addition to his work as a performer,
Bob serves as Executive Director of the Blackstone River Theater(www.riverfolk.org), a major cultural force in the life of traditional arts in New England.

Jeff Feingold (bodhran, vocals)
__
Jeff, mid-Atlantic champion on the Irish drum, was filmed as a guest performer for RTE, the Irish public television network. Jeff also joined several other notable musicians to record original and traditional music for the soundtrack of the Indie film, "Private Lies" (formerly titled "Bye, Bye America"). Jeff also founded the Celtic Artists' Network, a traditional music concert production and promotion company. He studied with Tommy Hayes, who is often cited at Ireland's greatest comtemporary bodhran player.

Jay Gilbert (guitar, banjo, vocals)
__
Jay has fast become one of the most highly regarded accompanists in Irish Music in the New England traditional music scene. In addition to the "backing", Jay also plays melody, for both traditional tunes and those of his own composition. Jay has developed an individual style on guitar, on which his playing is at once strong, precise, and delicate. He also plays Irish tenor banjo, and he has a rich singing voice. He sings both lead and backing vocals for The Exiles.

The Long Walk Home

I loved the album. In fact I liked it so much that I'm booking the Exiles for the 25th anniversary of my corporation in September. Every time I listen to it in my office, I start dancing around my desk. Nice going....better start cutting a new one.

Brilliant!

Brilliant stuff! What great craic - alternates between fast-paced reels and lovely slow fiddle and whistle tunes ... the mix of instruments and the range of tunes and songs is really cool! Takes me back to my pub days in the country around Sligo and such.
