Ex-Wise Heads have been making music, performing and recording since 1997. They have released two albums and played at various Festivals and venues, mainly in the South East UK.
Originally a duo comprising former Henry Cow saxophonist/flautist Geoff Leigh and bassist Colin Edwin, of cult UK band Porcupine Tree, the addition of multi percussionist Vincent Salzfaas added the spark they were searching for in their quest to explore a rootsy and experimental, yet accessible form of music, both 'World Music' influenced and curiously English at the same time.
First album "No Grey Matter" features seven strong tracks showcasing a variety of moods using both unusual instrumentation and plenty of trio interaction.
From the opener "Lost Tango" with it's humourous interlude, to the closing funk space jam of "Cushion" Ex-Wise Heads take you on a sonic journey that manages to be both engaging and entertaining at the same time. Highlights include the spiritual "Spirit Dance" and the intense gnawa influenced trance of "Song For Jalil".
No Grey Matter has spontaneity at every corner and is an album that should delight you with it's originality and keep you wanting more.
