--Scott Yanow (Author of ten jazz books including The Jazz Singers, Bebop, Trumpet Kings, Jazz on Film and Jazz on Record 1917–76)
Born and raised in Southern California, Ezekiel grew up in a large family of eight children. The family had a baby grand piano in the garage, and after his oldest brother taught him to play a blues line when he was six, Ezekiel sat down to play so often that his mother started him on classical piano lessons. In the fourth grade he began playing tenor sax and by seventh grade he was both a classical pianist and a jazz saxophonist.
Midway through high school Ezekiel discovered and fell in love with the works of jazz pianist legends Bill Evans and Ahmad Jamal, among numerous others. Although he still plays saxophone with a Latin jazz group, his focus is to develop a unique voice as a jazz pianist. Ezekiel released his first CD in 2006 at age 17. Now based in West Los Angeles, Ezekiel performs regularly in the greater Los Angeles area.
