Album Notes

Maloya metis’ singer, songwriter and composer Fabrice Legros was born on November 20th 1969 in the city of St Pierre in southern Reunion Island. Right from the beginning of his career, Fabrice performed with some of the most popular bands on Reunion Island such as Baster, Tifock as well as maloya jazz pianist Meddy Gerville (Horacio El Negro Hernandez, Matthew Garrison, Michel Alibo...) Between 1993 and 1995, he left his native island to go to Paris in order to study music at le CIM (Centre d’Information Musicale). He mainly draws his inspiration from Reunion Island’s traditional music (Maloya) and also from facts from his everyday life and personal experience. His melancholic but also joyous music and lyrics will without any doubt get you in the guts. After a long and fruitful artistic journey, he now has the great pleasure to introduce you to his first solo album: “ Nénin”. Album on which you will also be able to discover a song written by maloya and world music maestro Danyèl Waro: “Bouzaron”. This tune has been specially rearranged by Fabrice for this occasion. True emotions !
