Album Notes

Fact Not Fiction was the debut band of Zeke Sayer and his high school friends in 2006. The band released 2 studio albums, self recorded ; Conversations (06) A Corporate Calling (07) before disbanding in April of 2008. This album was recorded at home in spring/summer of 2006 in a 1950's mobile home behind the Sayer's house. It bleeds out with the cry of a younger person longing to find something, but never really did. At first listen you may think of it as a "cut n' dry" debut album from a group of 17-yearolds with no real catchy songs, and really no sense of direction (or pitch) but upon further listening, you'll find true stories about hurt, make belief and memories (that really only appeal to the ones involved with the record). One good thing about this record (wither it's a pleasure to listen to or not) is that it really documents a time in their life when they were totally in limbo with certain subjects and for them I'm sure it makes a great "photo album" for them to come back to at points in their life.No one will ever like this album, and if they do, it's because they don't understand it.

Beyond Compare

If you love music of any kind and enjoy lyrics with meaning, then you'll enjoy this CD. Whether you are skiing, dancing, partying, running, sleeping, reading or just in the mood for good music, you will LOVE this CD. I know I did. Possbily the best songs on it are "Astronaut" and "Psycho". I think they have the best lyrics and meaning. If you are into music merely for the sound, I'd go for Homecoming and In My Car" Either way, you'll love all of the songs.

"Subtle and Haunting"
author: Flagpole Magazine
Conversations With Eyes Closed is the first album from Fact Not Fiction; a relatively new indie-rock band from Hartwell, GA. Formed in January of 2006, Fact Not Fiction is a band whose music encompasses both actuality and invention. Most of the songs were written from true-life experiences focusing on heartache, harsh real-world realities and recollections of breezy summer days. Recorded in a '60s-era trailer over the course of six months, the album allows its lo-fi sound to permeate all corners. The sound emitting from Conversations With Eyes Closed is completely laid-back, subtle and haunting with a few trance-like synth numbers thrown into the mix. Immediately, comparisons to Pavement and Death Cab for Cutie spring to mind. Lead singer Zeke Sayer has the ability to weave a story into a song, and not once does it come off as anything less than genuine and emotive. One of best tracks on the album, "In My Car" builds with a slow, simmering intensity that yields to its own dissolution right before the end. Another treat is the acoustic track "Psycho," a sweet-sounding lullaby with a hidden agenda. Conversations With Eyes Closed is one of those albums that can easily play in the stereo; with 11 solid tracks of feel-good and feel-bad melodies, there's no need to fast forward. This is a cool and laid-back indie-rock that is grounded and totally down to ear

Can't say that I know much about this band. They didn't send me a press-release with this CD, but I must say that I like what I am hearing. This is a cool and laid-back indie-rock that is grounded and totally down to earth. Perhaps even too down to earth sometimes, as you sometimes keep waiting for the guys to push the pedel to the floor and rock out with maximum energy, which is somethng that never happens. But that is my only complaint, as this CD delivers in every other way. My favorite song is "The Astronaut", which has got a massive chorus and sounds like a secular Deliriou5. All in all, a good effort from Fact Not Fiction.
