Album Notes

Faded Embrace formed in late 2005 with the goal to create heavy aggressive music. After doing four shows, one including opening for CKY, they caught the attention of Break The Surface Music. After signing with them, they went into the studio to record their debut EP entitled "Soundtrack Of A Dying Town"with producer, Brad Sith. With the EP coming out in the Summer of 2006, they landed some some national acts, like shows with Caliban, Sworn Enemy, CKY,and Hemlock. Their song, "Turning From The Light", landed them a spot on the Rise To Power Volume 2 compliation CD. Faded Embrace plans to keep pushing their music and the band into the future.

It's an unrelenting blast of aggression that is on a par with the big boys

Northern Illinois - the scene from which I come, so therefore I know - is chock full of bands that just never go anywhere. The bands are doomed either from uneventful, unoriginal, and mediocre music, or from a lack of drive and determination that seems to be resultant of more and more kids than ever picking up an instrument, if only for the unconscious desire to impress their friends and immediate peers. With this in mind, it is incredibly nice to see a band like Faded Embrace come along. This band is primarily comprised of former members of a Rockford-based hardcore unit known as Hastings Way, but while that band still had the occasional screamo tendency and was always at odds about musical stylings, Faded Embrace is more firmly rooted in a modern metalcore sound reminiscent of bands such as If Hope Dies, Demiricous, Diecast, and Unearth. Does this sound kinda all over the place to you? Good...cause it's supposed to seem that way. Is the band focused? Yes, incredibly so. The drummer displays skill that many other locals simply just do not have with his awesomely-syncopated double-bass and the occasional blast beat, and the singer is a relative newcomer to the scene who is already showing he's got the sound to hang with dudes in bigger, touring acts, but without sacrificing his gruffness for anything. Clean vocals? That's apparentally for sissy-pansies who can't handle screaming through an entire song. As for the riffage, this thing's got it all. Death metal brutality flows into a Throwdown-esque breakdown, and then into a Swedish harmony riff, and then into another breakdown, but this time a la Misery Signals. The thing about this that is truly awesome though, is that it all flows together and never settles for anything. If something is there, it ís for a damn reason, not just thrown in because the band needs catchiness or anything of that sort. It's an unrelenting blast of aggression that is on a par with the big boys, and they deserve to be signed. You'll see these guys on tour someday... Metal is Life!!!
