(About MP3 downloads at CD Baby)

This is what Dylan would sound like, maybe, if he'd grown up listening to Gang of Four. Great beat, smart writing, clever songs...

notes

This is the 3rd CD by fake brain, entitled PUSH, on their own imprint W.A.B.N.A.R.C. (we're a band, not a record company). The band is based in Brooklyn, NY.

The 4-piece rock group is comprised of Gideon Kendall (lead voc./ "the device"), James Pertusi (bass), Marc Friedlander (drums) and Andrew Solin (guitar). The band blends influences from British post-punk to classic American Indie Rock into a sound that they refer to as "Psychedelic New Wave."

"Comic Book Rock" is another term used to describe the band, who's gooey textures and Technicolor lyrics invoke images not unlike those found in their actual comic book series which tells the story of the band members' birth, death, re-birth, and of course, acquirement of the requisite "super-powers." Episodes 1-4 are available only at their live performances.

Lead singer Kendall flails about - singing ferocious melodies while simultaneously smashing his hand-built electronic "instrument" which he calls "the device." The intense, high-energy live set is not without it's subtleties, however, as the band ventures occasionally into more precious turf - at times working in carefully crafted pop-perfect back-up vocal harmonies by Friedlander and Pertusi.
