timeless, accomplished, gorgeous, haunting
author: Matthew Solarski
this came out of nowhere (Berlin, to be precise) and is quite possibly my favourite record of 2005. ten gorgeous abstract narratives, with a whole array of instrumentation, and atop it all dance fancie's deliriously vibrant vocals. the lady croons jazz, croons folk, croons singer-songwriter, croons spiritual, croons campfire sing-along--all to a wondrous effect. The choral work dazzles, the lyrics intrigue, and the arrangements prove exceptionally tight. Most highly recommended.
