Francisco Antonio Clinton
New CD - Estilo Flamenco Vol 1 (Easy Listening Flamenco Guitar Music)
Francisco Antonio, who is half Spanish, began playing flamenco guitar at the age of 12. His sister taught him his first piece, after which he went on to study with his father, who taught him all the traditional flamenco styles. He later studied for 2 years with Paco Pena at the Rotterdam Conservatory and on several specialized courses in Cordoba, Spain.
Now resident in London, he has established a reputation as one of the finest flamenco guitarists working outside Spain and has performed extensively throughout Europe as a concert soloist and with flamenco groups. His concerts, in which he plays his own compositions within strict flamenco frameworks, are always well received and noted for their intimacy and a willingness by Francisco to communicate to audiences to help them understand the complex structures that often baffle first-time listeners.
Francisco is a noted teacher of the various flamenco rhythms, one whose clarity of expression transcends a potentially difficult field of learning.
Francisco Antonio combines a purist's understanding of the musical, social and cultural traditions and 'grammar' of flamenco with the ability to use this knowledge for new directions in his own compositions - herein lies the essential skill of simultaneously both maintaining and developing such a vital art form.
Francisco is experienced in playing in all different types of venues and is an expert in flamenco background music, which he refers to as 'easy listening flamenco'. His repertoire in this field consists mainly of Rumba-style music and includes his own compositions as well as arrangements of several well-known cult TV themes, some of which can be heard on the new CD - Estilo Flamenco Vol 1 (Easy Listening Flamenco Guitar Music)
