ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
After the Maryam , became a best seller album, I got a letter in the mail from a doctor whose name was Maryam, with this incredible poetry, they had asked me to make a music on it and sing it. I found the poetry mystical and a unique love story at the level of the legend poets such as Hafez and Saadi and Rumi.
As a song writer and singer, It took me 3 years to understand a little bit of the dept. of this poetry, and eventually, at a right moment, the melody came to me and while recording I did myself went to a few seconds of elevated sense of some sort…( By no means, I claim to have understood the meaning or have done a “Fitzgerald translation” of the masterpiece, however, I just could not find an appropriate translation).
I did find out that other singers have also put melody on this poetry and performed songs on it, however, I decided to do my own version to add a new dimension to the joy of those who admire Tahereh and her mystic poetry for the beloved.

In this Poetry- that I have tried to translate into English- Tahereh is clearly in trans state and talking to her beloved (mystical , loving and ultimate universal spirit in Soufism and Erfaan) on how she would detail the story of her longing for joining the presence of this elegant loving power in the Universe and talk to the beloved close and personal.

By: Tahereh

If I ever get to be with you, up close and personal, facing you intimately, rubbing my cheeks to yours!
I'd pour out my heartbreak to you (whispering) explaining the tale, dot upon dot, line upon line

(---this is my story…) :
To find you and to just have a glimpse of your face; I've searched for you as the “Saba” –the mytical paradise breez- which sweeps the land and every city- ,
street after street, alley after alley; house after house, door after door

cause of my separation, blood gushes from my eyes— my heart's
Dajleh upon Dajleh! ( Dajleh or Tigris, a major river that runs through Baghdad)
ocean upon ocean
spring upon spring!
stream upon stream!

( I have a vision of your looks:)
around your bud looking lips, your atr agin face
(resembles to):
buds upon buds,
flowers upon flowers,
tulips upon tulips,
perfumes upon perfumes!

the beauty of your eyes, and mole, have hunted and captured the bird of my soul and heart
by(the trap made of);
desire upon desire, love upon love, habit upon habit, addiction upon addiction

( mystical Soufi’s-as Hafez – have compared the face of the beloved to a birds trap and the Mole is the seed in the trap that hunts the lover as if the lover was a hungry bird who’s desire for food over-rides the survivor instinct…)
my sorrowful heart has woven
your love (your name)
into the fabric of my existence,

string by string
thread by thread
warp by warp and woof by woof. ( meaning that in every cell of my body I have written “Beloved!”, in Modern biology this means that Tahereh got to such enlightened state of trans that she saw that in her DNA the name of beloved was woven !)
“ O beloved, your lover…”
Tahereh, looked into her own heart and soul, ( as if it is a library of books)
shelf by shelf, veil by veil, book by book , page by page,
and saw nothing ...
except You( my beloved!), only your name!
