Album Notes

FARBEON epitomizes the Hip Hop Renaissance. As an MC, poet and educator, he has graced stages, panels and classrooms across the United States and abroad, from the streets of Spanish Harlem to the halls of Georgetown University to the former USSR air-force hangers of Hip-Hop KEMP in the Czech Republic. In addition to rocking shows with The Last Poets, Rob Swift, Fishbone, The Coup, Wordsworth, The Strange Fruit Project, Rhymefest, The Visionaries, The Insects, and Aloe Blacc & DJ Exile, he has co-taught classes with Talib Kweli, Pharoahe Monch, and Fab Five Freddy.

As Education Coordinator for the Urban Arts Partnership, NYC's premier non-for-profit arts education organization (www.urbanarts.org), he works to develop pedagogy that bridges the gap between the arts and the academics. He teaches Poetry, Performance, Song-Writing & Hip-Hop Re:Education at the Facing History School, where he also serves as the Site Coordinator.

FARBEON has also been working with the Alzheimer Poetry Project (www.alzpoetry.com) for the past 4 years. Through this work, he has had the privilege and honor of performing for seniors throughout the nation who suffer from Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia.

He co-founded Say Word Entertainment, a collective of socially-conscious and like-minded artists, musicians, and promoters, who want to maintain and support the development of genuine hip-hop culture, community, and activism in NYC. In 2002, FARBEON worked with veteran producer Foundation (Universatile Music) to drop his debut album, “Collective Memory” which remains a classic 6 years after its release. In early 2005, as the golden-vocied member of 3rd Party he released "Pressed for Time", an album which recieved "****" in the September, '05 issue of Urb Magazine. One year later the 3rd Party released their second album "Separation of Powers" which included the production of 13 producers and which was mixed by DJ Center (Giant Step). As well, FARBEON has expanded his performance range to include the use of loop stations and effects pedals.

FARBEON has toured Central Europe 3 times in the past year. He is currently developing his own Master's Degree program in Hip-Hop Re:Education at New York University. In July of 2009 he will release his sophomore album, "Few and Far Between." Farbeon will be touring alongside 3rd Party and Hip Hop legend J-Live this August on the Get Up Stand Up Tour.

One of the most original pieces I have heard...

The Collective Memory album from FARBEON is definitely one of the most original pieces I have heard. It brings together the worlds of spoken word and hip-hop like no one else can. You can feel the passion and heart that went into every verse, beat, and song. They had no problem bring the reality portrayed in it's song to you for you to feel and reflect on. These are some of the catchiest choruses you will ever hear. I guarantee you will find your self singing them nodding your head. Pick this one up, all you heads, poets, artist, and all music lovers will find a little piece of them selves in here.……DeMoN33 EMGear.com FoO

A new voice in hip-hop

Farbeon brings vivid imagery to each and every verse in "Collective Memory". It's a pleasure to listen to something with meaning instead of the same old mainstream junk out there. The beats get my feet tapping and head nodding every time but above all it's the lyrics that really make this cd stand out among the rest!
