This gorup has really got the progressive rock thing down.  And like any great prog group, it's not by following a formula, but rather by following their own, unique artistic vision.  Like the great Yes album, "Fragile," there is a fantastic variety of music on this disc, but it's all distinctly progressive and distinctly Farpoint.  Sweetening the pot is the vocal mixture.  Dana Oxendine has a voice unlike any in prog, both because it's vemale and because it's just plain super.  Clark Boone's vocals are less distinct, they are a good fit for the music and a great counterpoint to Dana.  Overall, this disc is essential to any lover of progressive rock.

This is a gem of an album. Lovers of prog will feel right at home with this delightful album.  I should say that besides being heavily progressive, this cd leans into other areas such as folk, country, and neo-alternative celtic fusion.  I love it. These guys and gal really rock.  This is what should be on the radio.  

As for the musicianship, it is top notch.  The guitars and bass are tight. The vocals by Dana Oxendine are very sultry and captivating.  What a truly pure voice she has!

"Long Slow Journey" and "Fade Away" are two highlights on this album.  Lyrically and musically entertaining and intriguing. "Tartans" has me dancing around before I know what is going on! 

I highly suggest this album.  Worthy of the collection. Did I mention the cover art is really cool!  What an interesting concept.

What can we expect to hear when listening Farpoint for the first time? They are a band that palys Progressive Rock, Synphonic Rock as well or some thing with a lot of Folk influences, also could be classified as Melodic Rock. The fact is that, of course, together the members created a dynamic, high-energy sonic landscape blending various  musical styles and influences. All the instrumental works, for example all guitars sounds, are full of tecnical harmonies that reminds, in parts, some thing very seemed as a mix of "Yes" and "Renaissance", especially in the quieter and more reflective moments. The female singer Dana Oxendine has a beautiful and sweet voice, in set with the vocals from Clark Boone that adds an excellent and rich performance to the songs, for me all the vocals are one of the highlights on this group. "First Light" is the first work, with eight tracks including one bonus track from 1999 recordings. Engineered, recorded and mixed by Kevin Jarvis assisted by Dana Oxendine and Shane White, cover artwork by David Frain. My special and particular attention to the songs: "Words Of Pain", "Long Slow Journey", "Tartans" and "To The River" (is the best). Excellent and indispensable work, highly recommendable...
