Atomic Thunder

I'm a very huge fan of matt and the wild dogs. Glad they perform in Germany this summer. This is a usual cd you expect from matt. Music quality isstabile for years bust sadly enough because of the very low budget recording it sounds not so great as the early wild dogs lp's. I'd like to see the artwork a bit more fitting to the cdcase(please). But on the other hand the price is very ok. So I stop complaining and put on fatt matt again on 10. And please leave the covers off the cd next time. Now I have to skip song 3 (elected)every time. Nobody ever recorded a cover that's better than the original. So for mext time try a Wild dogs cover please (from the 1st lp).See ya in Germany Matt at HOA.LEON

Im an Alice Cooper Fan to the max and found this while searching out the song on other albums- previewed here and bought the album because of that song - what i didnt know was the whole album is as good man! there are classic metal songs in the 70's and 80's vein that reminded me of everything i like about music! and the guitarwork is extremely good, the exception is the guest player who apparently is an yngwie clone but very good at what he does. (i emailed for more info) im digging into this guys history who is a true do it yourselfer and an original 80's nwobhm star!
im sorry i missed the band live in chicago

METAL TO INFINITY
Listen up, time for some real US Power Metal delivered by one of pioneers of the US Metal movement, named Matt McCourt and his new outfit! Eighties Metal maniacs will remember this guy as leading force of Wild Dogs and Dr. Mastermind. First they were featuring on Mike Varney's, awesome "US Metal" compilation albums released through Shrapnel Records during the early 80s followed by a few excellent works created by Wild Dogs themselves."Wild Dogs" ('83) and "Man's Best Friend" ('84), both released on Shrapnel Records are their very best to me. Non-false, right in your face, bonecrushing US Metal at it's best was the name of the game.
"Reign Of Terror" was Wild Dogs' third attack, then came the silence for more almost 13 years before taken us all by surprise with a fourth album entitled "Better Late Than Never" through Old Metal Records. But actually, Matt never stopped working for the US Metal movement. Setting up his own website www.usmetal.com plus working along with some other bands, Matt was always full of energy and belief me...you ain't seen nothing yet. It looks like the Metal madman is definitely back to continue offering his great vocal / bass skills to all those into real US Metal and no bullshit.
"Atomic Thunder" is its latest creation and it kills, rips and destroys like no other. Old school inspired Power / Speed Metal in the vein of Wild Dogs, Dr Mastermind, Metal Church, The Rods, early Vicious Rumors,...Along with his fellow band members Bryce Van Patten (drums / driving force and producer of albums released through Man In Black Music) and guitar player Kurt James (Neil Turbin / Steeler, M.A.R.S. /...). Yeah, Matt's voice is still in very good condition and his bass guitar sounds heaviër than ever before. I think this guy is made of solid steel and won't give up the Metal fight till the end of his days.
Great works of Bryce and Kurt too you know...hard hitting drums and burning guitars just like in the good old days, i mean THE 80s!! Krank it up with awesome, brilliant tracks like "Atomic Thunder", "Man On The Mountain", the great Alice Cooper cover "Elected" (best AC cover ever heard!), "Crash And Burn" for all Speed Metal maniacs and last song of the album "Dance Of The Demons" is an instrumental one with the most impressive riffings, leads, chops you can imagine...just superb!!
I'm extremely satisfied with the result of "Atomic Thunder" because it brings back memories of the eighties period and is made with the intention of...give a shit about the current, modern, mainstream Metal movement. Eighties / US Power Metal fanatics, order right away and let's turn this fantastic compact disc as often and loud as possible! Order at: www.usmetal.com or contact Matt via email at: mmccourt@copper.net MY POINTS: 93 / 100
