ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Skybound" is the second full-length release from Philadelphia-born, Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Faye Davis. Things are quite a bit different the second time around ...

In the time between releases, Davis' sound and style have strikingly broadened and blossomed. With "Skybound" Davis reminds us of what the '70's-era singer/songwriters held to: criss-crossing genre and mood, blending classic sounds with those more fresh and current, singing with abandon one moment and with the bone-chilling touch of a feather the next...

A vehement purist, Faye intentionally side-stepped the present industry standards of auto-tuned vocals and mechanically quantized production. Enlisting the help of fellow singer/songwriter Mike Neal for his guitar and bass-playing prowess and drummer Philippe Aubuchon, Davis' songs are fully developed, resulting in a beautifully pure work of art that sparkles with honesty and intriguing variety.

Though not a concept album in the traditional sense, the title "Skybound" is a natural fit to both Davis' expansive voice and her songs' themes of growth, liberation, truth and transcendence.

Faye Davis was drawn to writing and recording music from the time her age grew from single to double-digits. Though two years of piano lessons and filling a soprano chair in her neighborhood church's choir were the extent of Faye's formal training, she devoted many a stolen hour over the years to personally developing her voice, ear and taste for music.

I am still under its spell...
I sat down in the living room, turned up the volume on
my cd player, and listened to all of your songs.  I want you to know how much your lyrics and music touched my very soul, for I have felt the same emotions that you so eloquently expressed in song from melancholy to pensiveness to hopefullness to exuberance.  To all of these, you have recognized the answer with your song, "Leave it all Behind"; easy to say and difficult to do.  Your voice is pure and beautiful.  Your CD should be very successful. I am still under its spell.

Wow! Great music for all your moods!
This CD is great for the office, but even greater as background music at a party.
Just sit back and enjoy with friends, or by yourself. It works!

You will enjoy listening to this recording again and again. Put it on while you do housework, wash the car, travel a long way, or if you want to turn the sound down on the tube and put this music with the show's visuals. In any setting, it is quality all the way.

Absolutely Delightful
This CD has been on non-stop play in my car for several weeks. Faye Davis has a sparkling voice, and her songs hit the heart and the soul. Every song is pure pleasure.

Evocative, intelligent, original pop music - elegant and refreshing.
If you’re looking for intelligent, original pop music that is unexpected and refreshing, you’ve found it in Faye Davis’ “Skybound”. Most songs are her originals, and feature Davis’ pure, powerful vocals in her elegantly arranged tunes. Ranging from the evocative, as in the strong opener “Leave it All Behind”, to playful as in “There’s Nothing Sweeter”, to the eerily seductive “Come With Me”, Davis’ originals cover a large range of emotional territory. Her whimsically poignant cover of “I’m Going to Go Back There Someday” is an excellent addition to her original tunes. Davis is an artist who can deliver, not to be missed.

Open your heart when you listen to this album!
Leave your heart wide open for SKYBOUND...an album where Faye Davis gives us mere mortals a delectable slice of heaven. Her lyrics and melodies are drenched with warmth, enlightenment, innocence, honesty, beauty, truth, reflection, courage, sensuality, deep love, faith, power, optimism, and most of all, integrity. Faye is both a gifted singer as well as songwriter who carefully balances her connection to the myriad of life's mysteries all the while questioning and searching its many layers. It's a refreshing bath of melodic light and a must-listen for those whose world may be sometimes murky and in doubt. I love every song and admit I haven't had the courage yet to replace her first track, Leave It All Behind, from my top ten playlist.
