Album Notes

SIMPLY FAYE

With several albums and singles to her credit, Faye Reis re-defines herself with this CD. Faye has worked with jazz greats: Lou Rawls, Saharh Vaughan, Della Reese, Joe Pass, Bobbie Troup, Ray Brown and Barney Kessel, to name a few. Faye identifies herself as a jazz singer, but record companies and management have always tried to make her somewhat commerical. With the help and direction of Vince DiCiccio, Faye has put her true jazz feel into this material.

Style: ”I’d say a soft jazz – straight-ahead jazz as they say in the business,” Reis says.

Sales pitch: “Its good listening in terms of being able to kick back and listen to the soft jazz,” Reis says. “If you like the old standards, there’s plenty of them.”

Influences: “Sarah Vaughan . . . and Sarah Vaughan,” Reis says, “I did a couple of albums with her; (even) before I had the privilege of working with her, I really looked up to her.”

Trivia: Reis once gave Lou Rawls gas money so they could take his car to a recording studio in Hollywood and record together. A picture of her and Rawls together last year at Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino is on the back of the CD.

It could be the soundtrack to: “Something sexy,” she says. “Soft and sexy”.

FAYE REIS UPDATE:

Faye is currently working on a CD project called “In A Mellow Tone”.

This will be her first CD where she shares the stage with other singers, both male.

“In A Mellow Tone”, originally a instrumental, written by Duke Ellington is sung by Les Nunes and is his signature song. Les is a Central California trombone player of renown and respect. He has played for Clint Eastwood’s parties and with many big bands in Los Angeles.

Faye and Les sing all the duets together except for one song where she joins Lloyd Williams, the great singer with “Earth Wind and Fire”, and of the classic movie Animal House. In that movie, Williams sings “Shout”. Together, Faye and Loyd do “Teach Me Tonight”. This you’ve got to hear.

The CD is expected to be released by the end of this year.

In March, Faye appeared on the Dennis Bono show at the Sam’s Town Theatre located in the hotel and casino in Las Vegas.

This summer Faye will be appearing with her band “The Real Deal” at Bentleys Bistro in Fresno, California. Check with Bentleys for times and dates. You’ve got to catch her in a live performance. She is the “Real Deal”.
