BY DARCIE STEVENS
There are no shows in town like the Diamond Smugglers and Dung Beatles, so the Brothers come in with less shite and more Beach Boys. Kevin and Steve McCarthy's first bit of original work in quite some time is as melodic as "Strawberry Fields" and as infectious as "Sweet Caroline." With the help of Moonlight Towers' James Stevens, Red River power pop is about to explode off the strip. Remember That Thing You Do! ? Bingo.

The Fighting Brothers McCarthy's debut release, Ladies and Gentlemen ..., is an 11-song disc that features the songwriting talent of both Steve and Kevin. The album was recorded on a shoestring budget at Austin's Bridge Studio from Fall 2003 to Spring 2004. James Stevens of Moonlight Towers engineered and co-produced the record. These guys ROCK
author: cbSaw these guys last night at SXSW Nuclear Taco Night. They played nearly every song on this disc. I bought a copy very early in their set. 'nuff said.
