“Saratoga\'s Fear of Flying performs prog rock in the tradition of Yes, King Crimson and Peter Gabriel. It is a genre of music that only the very technically proficient can attempt. The recently reunited Fear of Flying have not only attempted but succeeded magnificently in capturing the expressive vocals, odd time signatures and sweeping symphonic arrangement that are the hallmarks of progressive music at its ultimate.” Matt Mac Haffie, The Record

\"A New York four piece band,\" that \"pulls plenty of punches, with excellent songs and some clever hooks!\"

Harken ye back to a day when analog tape ruled the earth and the only glimmer of technology was a synthesizer that sounded like a harpsichord! Fear of Flying offer up a set of music firmly rooted in the twilight of the seventies, with hints of late era Zeppelin, Rush, Yes, ELP, etc - weaving tapestries of ethereal vocals, heavy guitar riffs, synths that sound like synths, propulsive rhythms, popping bass lines and scorching guitar leads. They touch on hard rock, keyboard-driven balladry and instrumentals that serve as their own mini-suites of prog rock. While I sometimes prefer my throwback rock to feature lyrics about demons and wizards, Fear of Flying really aren\'t about the schtick, or even just emulating their musical heroes - they\'re about musical precision and the execution of the constantly progressing riffs, rhythms and sections of their carefully conceived songs. These guys are clearly doing the kind of music they love, and working hard at it, and if you remember a day when songs still built toward a shredding guitar solo over a bed of instricate instrumentation, then you might dig Fear of Flying.
