Smooth jazz guitarist Federico Guillermo from the Bronx,New York; creates lush soundscapes that are a backdrop for his sizzling guitar playing.
From the Press- Republican Plattsburgh, NY by Evan Levin:
ALBUM: "Falling in Love"/ "Blue Rico"
ARTIST: Federico Guillermo.
North Country residents are sure lucky to have a transplanted Bronx guitarist named Federico Guillermo living among them.
With each new album he releases, he emphasizes what he told me the first time we met - that he is really good!
My only regret is I didn't allow him to play in my shop because I already had a guitarist at the time playing on a weekly basis. What was I thinking? So, Mr. Guillermo, I owe you an apology, and if I ever open another ice- cream shop in Plattsburgh, you'll be the first to play.
Another reason why Federico is cool is because he is one of the few living guitarists who impressed my not-so-easily-impressed grump of a dad.
My dad only wants to hear things like Santo and Johnny and experimental "phase 4" recordings created from a time when people had fun with stereo. I mentioned to him one day in passing that I heard an excellent version of "Sleepwalk" from Federico, and my dad was curious. I let him listen to "A Return to Love," and I haven't seen it since. Mr. Guillermo, thank you for making an old man smile.
If you, too, wish to smile, "Falling in Love" and "Blue Rico" are his two newest releases. They just sizzle and ooze out coolness. You can buy them locally or at www.cdbaby.com/cd/federico1.
Federico's music is so good for one simple reason: It really is all about love. I know this sounds cheesy, but it is obvious that music is Federico's passion and is his connection to his place in the world.
I don't want to imagine a world without Federico's guitar playing. It just makes good things seem even better, you know? He radiates peace and tranquillity, and he deserves his place in musical history. Let us hope only good things happen to him.
