Album Notes

Los Dos Federico are a father and son guitar duo from Puerto Rico. Both are named Federico Cordero. Federico, Jr. studied guitar in the Conservatory of Music in Puerto Rico. Later he traveled to Spain where he was a student of one of Segovia\'s most prominent alumni: Miguel Rubio. He also studied with Cuban guitarist Alberto Valdés Blain in NYC. He has accompanied such singers as Lucy Fabery, Danny Rivera, Chucho Avallenet, Julio Angel, Lucecita Benitez, Sophy, Nydia Caro, Spain\'s legendary singer Rafael Martos, among many others. Currently, he has his own guitar studio in San Juan.

Federico Sr. started playing the guitar at a very young age in his native Puerto Rico. He played with several well-known tríos on the island such as: Los Universitarios and Los Romanceros. He studied the guitar with Ramón Rivera, Jorge Rubiano and José Morales. He also studied the classical guitar in Spain with Miguel Rubio and flamenco guitar with the late Manuel Cano. He has presented recitals in Spain, Switzerland, Puerto Rico, Cuba, and several cities in the US mainland, including Cleveland and Lorain, Ohio, Buffalo, Boca Ratón, among others. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Guitar Foundation of America, the Casals Festival and is the co-founder and president of the Sociedad Puertorriqueña de la Guitarra. Besides being a guitarist, he is a distinguished attorney and economist and retired professor of law and economics of the University of Puerto Rico. He is currently writing a book on the musical scene in Puerto Rico and recording a new CD.
