Album Notes

STARBOY is a 2-dimensional superhero who lives with his uncle, a Mathematician. Everyday, STARBOY sees a real girl at the Diner (the Girl Who Loves Contrapuntal Music), but he doesn't have the courage to talk to her. Meanwhile, deep in the Ocean, the Sponges are leaving messages on STARBOY's answering machine; they want him to save them . . .

STARBOY was recently shown at The Whitney Museum of Art in New York City.

REVIEWS

Direct and imaginative pop-rock musical about following your heart.
author: Graham Coleman
Found out about this when someone linked to the Mathematician's song in the comments of a Computer Science Theory blog. Intrigued, I picked up the DVD from cdbaby. Fantastic musical. The songs are catchy with tight harmonies. The arrangements resemble clever showtunes in the lighter moments and Ben Folds-style piano rock in the harder moments. There is very little dialogue or shoe leather- the animations fill in the gaps and connect each of the characters during and between the songs. The animation is whimsical and a bit absurd in parts, but is usually symbolic or indicative of events in the story. Fantastic work, gentlemen. You have won me over.
