"Pretty Soon" leaves me more impressed than ever
author: JudyS
"Pretty Soon" offers a precious glimpse (in fact, serves us a veritable delicacy -- with fillips of wry humor, irony, and frank honesty) into the reality of what often seem to be the inscrutable, impossibly gifted mind and heart that navigate Felicia Brady like fine Swiss clockwork through a hectic city week's schedule -- a schedule that could leave many a Mary as grumpy as Martha in the classic Bible story to which Felicia refers in one song on this CD: in some very "real" moments just holding on, suffering yet one more of "those days." I'm left more awed than ever, after hearing these songs and reading their lyrics, that Felicia can rein in such an expansive heart to channel its energy into the sweet, full-bodied voice, carefully articulated words, and fluidly precise keyboarding (on piano and also organ) that consistently bless so many of us who are in the morning, noon, or evening of our lives in the church where Felicia so ably leads our congregation's serenades to God most Sundays, lighting our way down myriad delightfully varied, sacred musical paths to meet Him. More times than I will admit, Felicia's incredible soaring voice has wrung tears from this listener's own (far less disciplined) heart on a Sunday morning as I've marvelled that she can so consistently press her musical gifts into such rich service each week -- and not be moved to simply shed tears instead, herself, at the beauty of her music. All I can figure is: it must be God working very specially in her life ... for which I give Him **great** thanks (which would please Felicia, I know)!
