Album Notes

I have been a licensed massage therapist since 1994 and student of meditation and various other therapeutic relaxation techniques for most of my life. My first memory of participating in a guided meditation was after my father died in 1980. I was ten years old and began to have trouble sleeping. My mother, in an effort to help me relax and sleep, would lead me through her own original meditation - one in which I visualized my cats lounging and napping blissfully. I still can hear her words, gently coaxing me to drift off "just like the cats do." I sometimes wonder if she really knew what a gift she was giving me by teaching me to calm and relax myself. Since then, I have always maintained an interest in meditations and other reflective disciplines such as prayer, yoga and journaling. As these practices have always been woven into my life, it seemed only natural that I would incorporate them, especially meditation, into my own professional work and life. Since I began been teaching professionally in the spa and massage industries, I've added guided meditations to the end every class I've taught, every talk or speech I've given. While my words of instruction during the class or speech can be helpful and powerful, I have received more comments about the effects of the meditations I do...and many requests for them from my students. It is with great pleasure and thankfulness that I am able to put them all here for them...and you...to enjoy. All of the meditations on this CD are original, but they have been inspired by the words and work of many including Louise Hay, Caroline Myss, Wayne Dyer, Marianne Williamson and Shakti Gawain. They have also been inspired by my thousands of students and clients over the years. Thanks to all of them for their presence in my life and to you for making me a part of yours. Namaste.

Just breath: a great album.

I have a bad time with slowing my mind down at the end of the day and Felicia's guided meditations on this Album really helped me out. It was nice to hear her calm, soothing voice. The meditations are not too short or too long either, which was refreshing. Highly recommended for stress/insomnia relief.

Besides poor diet and minimal exercise, one of the main contributors to the declining health of Americans, both young and old, is stress. Stress related diseases include high blood pressure, along with cardiovascular and heart disease. As a massage therapist I see on a daily, even hourly basis, how the relief of stress can change a person's life. As a writer I can vouch for the negative effect that stress has on your body, mind and spirit. Two things that the Asians have known for centuries, and that we in this country are just beginning to understand is that first, we must drink plenty of water (80% of the population is still walking around in a state of dehydration). The second thing is how to breathe properly and reap the benefits of oxygenating ours bodies. Subconsciously, we tend to breathe shallowly or often hold our breath, particularly when experiencing stress. It is crucial that we learn to use our lung capacity in order to fully enrich the bloodstream with oxygen. Other symptoms include headaches, weariness and loss of energy. What Felicia Brown has done with this CD is to offer a vehicle in which to relax and free ourselves from stress through meditation and deep breathing practices. As a business owner and massage therapist herself, she has dealt with stress first hand, and she understands the dangerous effects it has on the body. Felicia's meaningful meditations and spoken words are delivered in her soft and sensuous voice, bringing about an immediate calming to the listener. She realizes that each of us has a need to take the time to sit and reflect, and to mediate with controlled breathing as a simple way to release the build-up of stress. I listen to this CD several times a week, and find it priceless as a relaxation tool. Felicia's gift in this CD is her marvelous delivery. calming, soothing, relaxing

Just listening to the CD for a couple of minutes made me calmer and more relaxed. The background music is calming. Felicia's voice is very soothing. Put the two together and you can't help but relax and clear your mind of the choas and confusion of the day. Being a Personal Trainer, I am surrounded by constant noise of the gym and conversation with clients. This is the perfect CD to help me relax and recenter myself after a physically and mentally demanding day. I would recommend Just Breathe to not only my clients, but all the trainers as well. We could all take a few extra moments out of the day to just breathe!
