Felton Pilate (“pilot”), long-time co-lead vox for Mercury/PolyGram's ConFunkShun, steps out with a fantastic solo CD entitled "Nothing But Love Spoken Here". With his flair for the urban/AC-flavored bump and grind goodies, Pilate really lets loose with this 14-song set of slow to mid-tempo love anthems and stepper-krunk remix moves. Unlike many current R&B ballad offerings, it’s all about romance, not just lust. The album title cut is a riveting soul scorcher, a true love tale of sensuous melodic power. His signature lush arrangements are consistent song after song; and "In Time" really accentuates his patented choruses of flowing grandeur. "Different Lives", a melancholy story about forlorn regrets, has movie theme quality. Pilate's silky falsetto is given free reign and soars throughout; with a delightful showing in "Keepin' You To Your Promise". Pilate originally penned/produced it for The Stylistics, and proves extremely capable in his vocal rendition as well.

A Taste Of Honey's Janice-Marie Johnson and Pilate duet seamlessly on "Only For You", about that elusive quality, devotion. Johnson also portrays Pilate’s love interest in his title track, strawberry champagne-exotic, and bubble bath cozy dream scene video. Filmed in a wintertime Swedish forested hideaway, “Nothing But Love Spoken Here” is anything but stock video footage. Kudos to the vision of Escapi Music. Bulleting to #1 R&B at RHYTHMflowRadio.net, ”Takin’ It To The Top” really does swing you all the way there. Providing production, songwriting, vocals and instrumental tracks, Pilate exquisitely demonstrates his many talents both in the recording booth and at the console. On the whole, this CD is truly a confession of love on many love-gone-good and love-gone-mad levels - lusciously intimate. "Nothing But Love Spoken Here" is the soundtrack for EVERY romance.

Originally, Pilate exploded into the national spotlight with ConFunkShun on a formidable run of ten huge records, including one Platinum and four consecutive Gold albums. Their 20 hit singles included eight Top Ten R&B Hits and one #1 R&B smash. Alongside blistering dance workouts like "Chase Me", "Ms. Got-The-Body", and “Ffun” are their quiet storm love jams, for which Pilate is vocally noted. Classic Pilate-vox faves such as, "Straight From The Heart", "(Let Me Put) Love On Your Mind", "All Up To You", and "Baby I'm Hooked (Right Into Your Love)” whet the appetite for this new CD. These Pilate evergreens remain at radio while ConFunkShun continues to post concert dates year-round, and Mercury/PolyGram/Universal repackages their catalogue time and again.

Pilate is renowned worldwide for his production/songwriting/M.D. credits with rap-dance legend M.C. Hammer. The Hammer-Pilate catalogue staggers the imagination with sales of 30+ million, including "Please Hammer, Don't Hurt 'Em", the #2 all-time selling R&B CD. The awards, such as Grammies, M-TV, American Music, Billboard, and Soul Train, among others, lauded on his mix magic with Hammer are too numerous to mention. As Musical Director for Hammer's record breaking 250-date world tour, he directed the Earth, Wind and Fire horn section, over 40 musicians, singers, dancers, and rappers. Other landmarks in Pilate's Capitol Records era include film and TV soundtrack standouts such as his Oscar-nominated "Addams Groove" (Addams Family movie theme) and “Hammerman” (Hammerman Cartoon show theme). Pilate also has production/writing credits for the California State Lottery radio and TV-show slogan, "I Feel Like The Lucky One".

Pilate’s legendary influence reverbs elsewhere in film and TV, as in the D-Shot/Jive Records single, "Huckleberry", featured on the GOLD soundtrack, "Booty Call", and the DOUBLE PLATINUM "Gang Related" soundtrack cut "A Change to Come", by J. Flexx. The eponymous PLATINUM debut CD, Dru Hill, which re-vibes the ConFunkShun classic, Pilate-penned “Love's Train”, is another example of how his writing continues to be relevant. Recent events include his successful European kick-off show in Berlin for the “Love Spoken Here” Tour, and the launch of his new and much expanded website: www.feltonpilate.com. Upcoming action includes the much anticipated LOVE SPOKEN HERE radio pillow-talk show. The talk is romance, needless to say. "Nothing But Love Spoken Here" fits the Pilate mold and keeps on proving his style and message are, indeed, universal and timeless....

This album is one to relax to and dream away on

Felton Pilate is romancing on his latest album "Nothing But Love Spoken Here". In forteen songs including three rimixes of the title track he reminds us of times when a lady was called a lady and not a bitch. Felton is member of ConFunkShun the successful soulfunk group and he's also known for writing and producing a song like "U Can't Touch This " for the rap star of the nineties M.C.Hammer. The title song "Nothing But Love Spoken Here" is a powerful and sweet ballad. The USRemix#2 version of this song is very catchy. The synthesizers used in this version as well as the lines from the rapper have done their work. Felton Pilate has filled this album with sugar sweet ballads but he has also recorded a mid-tempo groove on it called "Yours For Life". A nice and pleasant surprise on "Nothing But Love Spoken Here" is Felton's rendition of the song "Keeping You To Your Promise" which he wrote for the Stylistics who recorded it in 1996. On "Takin'It From The Top" the funk comes in but that's not strange for a funkateer like Pilate. This album is one to relax to and dream away on. Especially lovers of adult comtemporary music will be pleased with this album and pick out their favourite ballad.(TA)
