Album Notes

"The Fenton Weills are Germany´s own garage superstars" wrote the British New Musical Express, and yes: when "Viva Villa" came out on the Pastell label in 1987 their mixture of twangs from the heydays of instrumental Rock´n Roll (Hawaii 5-0, Jack The Ripper, Peter Gunn) and their very own guitar extravaganzas - culminating in an 20 minutes Angst-ridden garage/trash/metal instrumental on the albums second side - took the European critics by storm. "Like the Feelies without singing" wrote German indie-zine Out Of Depression, Scotlands garage bible "The Next Big Thing" called it "an instrumental record that pretty much hits the mark", while New York´s Midnight Record Shop simply called it "intrumental gonzos from Germany".

Fenton Weills was founded in the early Eighties from the ashes of two local punk bands and released their first single "Als der Regen kam" / "Allein zu Haus" 1985 on German Pastell label, sung in German but heavy influenct by early Creation- and Postcard - Bands.

As the "houseband" of Pastell the Fenton Weills supported TV Personalities, Times, Stingrays, Direct Hits, Paul Roland and Shiny Gnomes and recorded two and a half other albums: "Cavalcade" (1988), "A Tales Of Two Cities" (split w/ Berlin band The Beatitudes) and "Fenton Weills" (2003).

CD bonus tracks: the first single from 1985 (plus a prev. unreleased track from same sessions) and two live tracks recorded at "Berlin Independent Days" 1988.
