Primal, passionate and occasionally vicious. This heavy alternative brand of rock is
best described as a Chili Peppers/Foo Fighters stepchild or a Glen Danzig fronted
Meat Puppets. The San Francisco foursome, known as Feral Moan, prefer to describe
their onslaught of audio output as an unadorned release of mood-bending vocals, spicy
guitar work, dominating bass lines and solid percussion.
Feral Moan's songs are eclectic journeys that engage aspects of the human psyche -
including obsession, addiction, debauchery, and surrealistic introspection. While songs
like Todo Mal and Sweet Lisa reflect their core dynamic output, short spastic anthems like
Tool Shed and sincere ballads like Singular suggest the extremes of Feral Moan's personality.
The end result is a sense of undeniable satisfaction with an inexplicable urge for a cigarette.
The band's Machiavellian quest to dominate the world began with a focus on the Bay Area,
concentrating specifically on the San Francisco scene. In addition to their live performances,
Feral Moan has ventured into cyberspace by broadcasting Libido Rock to the never ending
corners of the world wide web (with the help of Expression Center for New Media) and gotten
great exposure on sites like Garageband.com, CaliforniaBands.com and their very own ultra
deluxe website - www.feralmoan.com. They have also performed live "on the air" at Stanford's
College Radio station, KZSU 90.1FM, and implemented a Black Flag style guerilla marketing
street campaign.
In 2004, Feral Moan is expanding its initial focus. The band will tour the Western U.S. in support
of their self-titled April release (including the future hit single, Cherry Pop) on Oakland start-up
label, Dead Fish Records. The self-titled record is a raw, no holds barred collection of ten
emotionally charged, high intensity tunes - a genuine vibe that resonates throughout the fully
independent, self-produced album.
