Album Notes

Ferd Piccuirro is a singer/songwriter from central New Jersey, near the Delaware River bordering Bucks County, PA. Ferd has been writing songs and performing for many years, delighting audiences with his warm voice, beautiful songs, and the energy he brings to his performances. His music can best be described as folk rock, with heartfelt, insightful lyrics flowing over strong melodies.

Ferd began his musical journey in the early seventies playing electric lead guitar in a rock band. While in college, his interest turned more towards acoustic music. Ferd began writing songs and performing them in coffeehouses in south Jersey. He then met up with other like-minded musical friends, and along with his brother Mick, formed a folk rock band called Orion. Orion performed original songs written by Ferd and other band members, as well as cover songs, and the band consistently received enthusiastic responses from audiences.

Working full time in the telecommunications and information systems industries and raising three children took center stage for a number of years, but Ferd continued to write songs and perform. Attendance at songwriters’ workshops beginning in 2001 renewed his passion for songwriting and performing. Since then, Ferd has performed his music at various venues in New Jersey (including local TV and Radio spots), and in New York, Pennsylvania, and the lakes region of New Hampshire which inspired his title song “Rain on the Lake”.

Ferd champions the belief that there are happy endings, silver linings, and always hope in this world. He is a balladeer who sings love songs, stories, fantasies… and ballads. Ferd’s songs take you away for awhile and gently bring you back with a peaceful feeling and a smile on your face. Take a listen and enjoy.

Life, Love, and Optimism
author: Kathy Moran

Fans of this warm and personable singer/songwriter have long anticipated this premiere offering and it was well worth the wait. Ferd's music is satisfying and refreshing. It draws the listener in with its warm-hearted optimism that shines through each song in a different way, without so much as a whisper of redundance. When it comes to lyrics, Ferd is a master of simplicity, writing straight from the heart. With a voice as warm and comfortable as a favorite flannel shirt, his words are carried along on melodies that are interesting and uncluttered. Encompassing themes that run the gamut from poignant to playful, his lyrics will touch your heart, make you smile, and perhaps even shine a ray of hope on a dismal day. He reminds the listener of the joys of simple pleasures and then heads off on flights of fancy to a world where dreams really do come true. Truly, it's a journey not to be missed. In addition to Ferd's clean, bright acoustic guitar stylings, the CD flows along with just the right amount of added instrumentation provided by master musician Eric Garrison. The beautiful, rich harmonies provided by Paddy Dougherty are as pure and golden as they come. With mastering by the incomparable Scott Petito, the overall sound quality of the project is top notch. Talk about a breath of fresh air - put this CD in your player, close your eyes, breathe deeply, and recall how very good life can feel ...
