Album Notes

Jesse Ferguson is a folk musician from Cornwall, Ontario, Canada, and his love of Scottish and Irish traditional music was nurtured in the neighbourhood of Glengarry County, home of North America’s biggest Highland Games. He sings and plays several musical instruments, including the guitar, mandolin, violin, harmonica, bodhran and pennywhistle. He has performed solo and with other musicians in Cornwall, Ottawa, Miramichi, and Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, where he currently resides. He posts videos of traditional music on the website youtube (youtube.com/BardofCornwall) under the name The Bard of Cornwall, and his personal website can be found at www.jesseferguson.ca. His work has been featured on The Irish and Celtic Music Podcast, as well as on the Podcast's recent best-of compilation (http://cdbaby.com/cd/boticmp).
While he has been recording music for several years, New Old Songs is his first album for release. Jesse performed all instrumentals and vocals, recorded and mastered the tracks, and designed the CD’s layout. He did all this while pursuing his PhD in English literature, and while getting his first book of poetry, Harmonics, published by Freehand Books.

Great CD
author: J. MacIlroy
When I first got this CD in the mail earlier this year I dug out my old discman and listened to it on the bus everyday on my way to University. It reminded me a lot of back home in the Maritimes, it was a nice way to escape the busy city of Montreal at least for a little while. Jesse has a wonderful voice, perfectly suited for the music he is playing. I love hearing all the different instruments that were put to use in the making of this album. I look forward to hearing more in the future.

New Old Songs

You were looking for Celtic music, if you found yourself here! That's what I was looking for on YouTube, when I came across this guy. He has a beautiful timber to his voice like a young Gordon Lightfoot, and he looks like a younger, better looking Luke Kelly (from the original Dubliners). The songlist is a a unique one- selections not found on every Irish/Scottish cd. The instruments are awesome- a nice thundering drum, great acoustic guitar. The only thing wrong with cd is you'll want more!

Jesse Fergusson is wonderful baritone vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. His renditions of the old celtic favorites are not to missed. When I learned that he had a CD, I snapped it up. The quality of recording is fantastic!
