Two countries have shared a common function in the history of the Eastern and Western worlds, on one side Egypt, a place of encounters between all the different communities of the Middle and Far East, on the other Spain, where East meets West, a nurturing land for sharing between the two worlds and platform to impulse new ideas and cultural growth towards both sides.
Now Egyptian and Spanish artists and music researchers Fernando Perez and Mohammed Antar present their new project, based on the idea of continuing the long lasted tradition and relation between their two native lands.
They introduce a musical repertoire in a recital full of fresh original compositions made in the traditional style, preserving and respecting its values as well as blending it with new visions.
The two artists delight the listeners with musical works, which range from Middle Eastern sounds to Spanish Flamenco and take a step further experimenting with other musical backgrounds such as Indian, Jazz or even Brazilian music, finding always a new common ground to bring humanity together.
The compositions are performed in Egyptian Ney; an eastern instrument from the flute family; Spanish guitar, Arabic guitar; which is a special design created by Mr. Perez in order to perform eastern music in a western instrument; as well as Middle Eastern and Flamenco percussions.
Andalusi tunes, Turkish style Longas, and even the passionate sounds of Spanish Rumbas and Bulerias in a fusion that aims towards preserving the tradition while finding the natural blend between the musical cultures and new contemporary ideas.
