When 23-year-old BMI singer/songwriter Daniel Ferrari was selected by the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the National Academy of Popular Music to be featured in their November 2005 showcase for new, up-and-coming artists, what exactly was it about Daniel that turned the judges on to him? Maybe his explosive live performance and fascinating stage presence drew their attention. Maybe his carefully-crafted, captivating songs piqued their interest. Perhaps the ever-increasing industry buzz about Daniel got him noticed. It could’ve been his engaging voice, his catchy pop/rock sound or his charismatic demeanor that turned their heads. Whatever it was about Daniel and his artistry that impressed the judges the most, one thing is certain. Daniel Ferrari is a passionate singer/songwriter, a gifted musician and a highly-driven artist with a bright career on the rise.
Likened to industry greats such as Rob Thomas, Tracy Chapman, John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls and Edwin McCain, Daniel got his start at Loyola College in Maryland where the songs began to pour out and the stage became a favorite place. Although he had been singing and playing guitar since inspiration from the legendary Elvis Presley compelled him to do so at age eight, it wasn’t until these college years that Daniel began to show promise as a writer and performer. He quickly became the most popular artist on campus, drawing the largest crowds for the weekly campus coffeehouse. Towards the end of his time at Loyola, when a rough demo was discovered by Gene Smith, Associate Publisher of Billboard Magazine, Daniel saw some doors open and he was able to record his self-titled debut EP. Gene became Daniel’s manager and it was time to get the music heard. Daniel proceeded to hook up with dynamic drummer and childhood friend Richard Wronski, bassist Mark Cywin and guitarist Steve Lazarevich to form a band that truly takes Daniel’s songs and live performance to the next level. Daniel is quickly making his presence known in New York City, performing regularly at renowned venues like the Bitter End, Kenny’s Castaways, the Cutting Room and the Triad theatre while also building a fan base in his home state, New Jersey. Daniel was chosen by NYsongwriters.com to be showcased at their singer/songwriter sessions and was credited by founder Larry Oakes for having “great songs and a great voice to top it all off.” Daniel has recently finished working with producer Jim Gately at Valhalla Sound Studios in New York City on his latest release Feel Something which features the songs “Way Back” and “Just Days Ago” that won Daniel his spot in the aforementioned Songwriters Hall of Fame November 2005 showcase.
Daniel is quickly convincing fans, fellow artists, critics and industry professionals alike that he is indeed the next huge thing to happen to pop/rock. Daniel displays an eagerness to give of himself with each performance, truly creating an atmosphere that draws listeners in, allowing them the opportunity to get lost in each song and make it their own. As Vice President of Smoking Caterpillar Music Publishing, Marcy Drexler comments, “His songs have a hypnotic, captivative appeal and his vocals are raw, yet intimate.“ Daniel’s commitment to writing significant, moving songs is apparent. Drexler also believes “Daniel will settle for nothing less than greatness and he is well on his way to achieving it.” Daniel shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. This CD has an edge, a truth that is refreshing and melodies that you will find yourself singing throughout your day, at funny times! It connects to the part of you that just can't help but move when music makes sense to your heart. Daniel sings about love that women want with a hunger in his voice . . .a sweet sexiness that is so subtle and digs in when you least expect it. Solid, unique music.
