Album Notes

Franklin, Harpe & Usilton perform 1920s and 1930s blues and ragtime in the Piedmont, Memphis, and St. Louis guitar-duet style. Rick Franklin and Neil Harpe provide the guitars and vocals and percussionist Rick Usilton plays an assortment of drums and washboards. The group has performed throughout the Washington DC metropolitan area at events such as the Washington Folk Festival, Northern Virginia Folk Festival, the DC Blues Society Blues Festival, and the Baltimore Blues Society, in addition to appearances at The National Portrait Gallery and various clubs and cafes.

Pure magic ride back to the good ole' days

First of this kind I've heard and I like it lots. Good sounds, great lyrics, fun to play over and over. If you want to try this style for the first time, this is the one to buy! Right mix of raspy blues sounds with great guitar playing. A winner in my book.

Great, must have, fun, old time blues

Gets played over and over in my house and in my car ... kids love it too. Great cover of mostly traditional blues with a sprinkle of more contemporary tunes. Fun, like you're at the gig, not studio polished.
